DIRECTORS MEETING February 2, 2012
LUNCHEON AND DINNER MEETINGS:
In an effort to reduce our expenses, we will have only one speaker each month in 2012. On January 26 we will have Mr, Larry Parker from Medivioce Alert speaking on personal security! We have one speaker each month thru July. Watch each month’s newsletter for the speaker that month!
BIRTHDAY WISHES:
The following Lions will celebrate their Birthdays this month: Lions Jim Hamill and Pat Corbett Happy Birthday and may you both have a very happy and healthy year!
SALVATION ARMY:
The First Annual Jeff Ennis Memorial Lions Club Helping Day was held on December 10 at 12 local Acme stores. We do not know how we did in raising funds for the SALVATION ARMY but our efforts were greatly appreciated!
REVERSE RAFFLE:
The date for the 2012 Reverse Raffle has been set. It will be Saturday April 21, 2012. So mark the 2012 Lions calendar you received with that date.
ENTERTAINMENT BOOKS:
Due to the efforts of many Cuyahoga Falls Lions, we sold 49 of the 52 - 2012 Entertainment books we ordered. Thank you to all of the Lions who helped make this a success.
BICENTENNIAL PARADE:
We have been invited to participate in the Cuyahoga Falls Bicentennial Parade on August 11, 2012. Lion Bob Weinhardt has volunteered to chair the committee that will organize our volunteers for this event. We may be able to borrow a float for the event. More on this in upcoming newsletters.
SUGARTOWN EXPRESS:
Again this year we have received an invitation to contribute to the SUGARTOWN EXPRESS and attend their fundraiser. We have two members who will attend. We need two more, as our $100.00 contribution will give us four tickets. If you and your spouse would like to attend, call Lion John McCoy at before 1/12/12!
DISTRICT 13-C CONVENTION:
Mark your calendars! The District 13-C convention will be held at the Beachwood Hilton on April 27 - 29. More information in future newsletters
EYE GLASSES:
Did you know your CUYAHOGA FALLS LIONS CLUB has over 21 EYE GLASS COLLECTION BOXES around this city? In the last year we have collected 2,500 eyeglasses, which will be forwarded to GALEP and on to Doctor’s Without Boarders for distribution to third world countries. We also collect cell phones that are taken to Verizon, which are set for 911 and given to battered women’s shelters and hearing aids to go to Akron Lions Hearing Aid Bank .
MEMBERSHIP:
Remember, it is not just the responsibility of your MEMBERSHIP CHAIRMAN to recruit new members. IT’S THE JOB OF EVERY MEMBER OF THE CUYAHOGA FALLS LIONS CLUB! Ask your friends, family members, fellow parishioners at your church, neighbors or anyone you think might make a good Lion! We need more young members who have a desire to SERVE the citizens of Cuyahoga Falls! Don’t you know someone? We need more new members! If you have anyone who you feel would make a good LION member, bring him or her to a lunch or dinner meeting in the next few months.
REMEMBER:
IT’S GREAT BEING A LION!
