LUNCHEON SEPT. 9, 2010 DINNER MEETING SEPT. 23, 2010 DIRECTORS MEETING OCT 7, 2010 LUNCHEON AND DINNER MEETINGS: We have an extensive list of speakers set through September, and are working on the rest of the year. The speaker on Sept. 9th will be from Pilot Dogs and on Sept. 23rd our guest speaker will be District Governor Lion Marty Dennis. Please plan on attending these two meetings and hearing from these two fine speakers. And please feel free to invite and bring guests!! As always we are meeting at PAPA Joe’s in the Valley. BIRTHDAY WISHES: The following Lions will celebrate their Birthdays this month: Lions Tim Gorbach, Terry Harden and John McCoy. Happy Birthday Y’all and may you all have a very happy and healthy year! FUNDRAISERS: One of our fundraisers this year will be another Night at the Races. It is already scheduled for Friday, November 5th 2010 at the same place as last year, Stow Youth Baseball Party Center. So mark your calendars and plan on having loads of fun! I will attempt to send the flier provided by Lion Dave Pelligra in the July e-mail in a separate e-mail. Feel free to make copies for your friends. Lion Dave would like to see some horse sales form and ticket orders soon! DOVIE’S DOING BETTER! Lion Dovie Croy has been experiencing some serious health problems, but is doing much better. She is now in Washington state with her daughter. The latest news is that she should be returning to her home here in the Falls soon! DUES ARE DUE: As of JULY 1st your 2010-2011 DUES were due. They are the same as last year, $75.00 per person, and can be mailed to our mailing address, 1725 Portage Trail C./F.O. 44223. As of the Directors Meeting on September 2nd, we still have 7 Members who have not paid their 2010-2011 DUES. These Lions will be receiving phone calls from various Lions and another dues form this month to urge them to pay their dues soon. As immediate Past President, it is my responsibility to make most of those calls. So if you haven’t paid yours yet, you can expect a call soon! 85th ANNIVERSARY: Next year we will be celebrating the 85th Anniversary of the founding of the Cuyahoga Falls Lions Club. We are planning to celebrate on April 2nd 2011 at Todaro’s Party Center. Plans are being finalized for a sit down dinner at a cost of $30.00 per person with a cash bar. We will be inviting the King Lions and their guests from the other clubs in our district along with some one from Lions Clubs International If you have any suggestions about the party you should call King Lion Dave Filing or Lion Kathy Skinner with those suggestions. MUM SALE: As we did on the Mothers Day weekend with the sale on hanging baskets, we will be selling MUM’S on Saturday September 25th at the same location. That is the corner of Bailey Rd. and Munroe Falls Ave. We will open at 9:00 A.M. and close at 4:00 P.M. All Volunteers should call Lions Harry Himelright or Rick Sabo. We will need at least 3 or 4 Lions at the site at any given time. Being open for only 7 hours we should be able to have that many on hand for a few hours each. The price of the MUM’S is yet to be determined however it will be competitive with other sales locations around town. CLEVELAND HOST ANNIVERSARY: The Cleveland Host 90th year Charter Night anniversary will be celebrated on Oct. 9th at the Radisson Hotel 20507 Country Club Blvd North Ohlmstead Oh 44070. The cost will be $30.00 per person with a cash bar. The guest speaker will be Past Int. Director Steve Sherer. RSVP is by Oct. 1st. For more information or to get the number to call to RSVP, call either King Lion Dave Filing or PDG Lion Neil Bevere. MEETING SCHEDULE CHANGE: All meetings on the fourth Thursday of each month until further notice WILL BE DINNER MEETINGS! They start at 6:00 P.M. with a social half-hour. Dinner will be served around 6:45 with the orders off the menu being taken around 6:10 P.M. Our guest speakers begin after orders are taken, and continue until dinner is served. MEMBERSHIP: Remember, it is not just the responsibility of your MEMBERSHIP CHAIRMAN to recruit new members. IT’S THE JOB OF EVERY MEMBER OF THE CUYAHOGA FALLS LIONS CLUB! Ask your friends, family members, fellow parishioners at your church, neighbors or anyone you think might make a good Lion! We need more young members who have a desire to SERVE the citizens of Cuyahoga Falls! Don’t you know someone? We need more new members! We will be having more Prospective New Member dinners in the next few months. If you have anyone who you feel would make a good LION member, bring him or her to a dinner meeting in the next few months.
