LUNCHEON MEETING (ON TAP) FEBRUARY 8, 2018 DINNER MEETING FEBRUARY 22, 2018 DIRECTORS MEETING MARCH 1, 2018 FROM THE PREZ:
What a great meeting February 1st, lots of discussion on the Reverse Raffle, and many other subjects. If you weren’t there, you missed a good one.
SPEAKERS FOR FEBRUARY: On February 8th our Speaker will be Steve Thornton of the Wooster Lions, who is a Candidate for International Director. We will finally be back at On Tap at Noon, and prepare to be impressed with the changes!
On February 22nd, our Zone Director Justin Knox will be with us at Papa Joe’s (6 PM). Please try to attend at least one, if not both!
REVERSE RAFFLE: Our Reverse Raffle will have a new look, which we hope will bring more interest and ticket sales. Bill Skinner will be taking over for John Parman, and we are setting up Committees for various duties. The Main Prize will still be $2000, with one ticket costing $110 which will include TWO (2) dinners. The first number drawn will receive $50, or can put the ticket back in, and every 10th number drawn will also be for $25, with the same option. We will still have the Lucky 11 ticket which will be sold and drawn later in the Raffle. There will be two $5 and 1 $3 Side Board. We will also have Bingo cards for sale for $5. These went over well last year. We will also sell 130 tickets, and will need YOUR HELP to sell them, and of course, as Lions, we hope you will buy one, and attend the Raffle. We will also try to do some advertising, to make more people aware of the Charities we support through the funds from the Raffle. OH, BY THE WAY, THE RAFFLE WILL BE MAY 5TH AT TODARO’S, buffet with Prime Rib table. Whew!!!!!
MELVIN JONES PRESENTATIONS: At the Punch Bowl Dinner in December, Dave Filing was honored as a Melvin Jones Fellow. Then at the January Dinner John Parman was presented with his Melvin Jones Fellow Plaque and Pin. Congratulations to both Lions, who have gone above and beyond for our Club and Lionism.
VISUALLY IMPAIRED LUNCHEON: We will be having the Luncheon at the Quirk Center again in December, due to the accessibility, and space available in the Banquet Room. There was also concern about someone falling down the steps to the area with the fireplace at Lions Park. Thanks to Rae Yeager and her “crew” for a very nice luncheon, enjoyed by all our guests.
Our Birthday wishes this month go to Lion Lee Hamill. Have a wonderful Birthday!!
EYE SCREENINGS: PDG Neil Bevere stated that there will be a change in the method of screening the children’s eyes. More training dates are coming, and there will be some screening in March.
MOTHERS’ DAY FLOWER SALE: Plan ahead for May 11-12-13 for our Annual Sale at the corner of Bailey Rd and Munroe Falls Ave. We are asking if any member has a trailer we can use for the two nights we need to store the flowers. Call Lion Rick Sabo, if you can help us.
FESTA ITALIANA: Lion Rick Sabo stated that Festa Italiana will be July 20-21-22. It will be a new experience on the reopened Front St. Beer Pourers, get ready!!
CF LIONS AT THE RUBBER DUCKS: June 29, 2018 will be our Lions Night at Canal Park, with a big change. Tickets will be $25 per person, as this includes a ticket, a very nice buffet, and fireworks. Seats will be at the end of the 3rd base side, with picnic type tables, so we can have a more social experience. If you prefer a regular seat after the buffet, tickets will be issued. Other Clubs will also be invited to join us. More later.
