FROM THE KING LION:
The October business meeting will be at Quirk Center. District directories will be available on-line by the end of the month. Parks and Rec has announced that the city hall trick or treat will not happen. The 2021 district convention will be in Akron at the Hilton Hotel near Summit Mall. The locations of Lions signs has come up. At present, signs are on State Rd near Wyoga, St Rt 59, Rt 8 and Portage Trail. Meeting time and location is not on the signs. The district is pushing for donations for Toys for Tots. Dec. 1 is the end date for collections, Lion Neil wants someone to chair this activity for our club. Also, Lion Neil will be confirming chairs for our club committees. Lion Mary Bevere will be chair for Red Kettles, Lion Lori Bevere will chair LCIF project, Lion Wes Johnston will chair service projects, Lion Kenny Bev will chair the golf outing.

MELVIN JONES FELLOWSHIP:
Lion Terry Harden was presented with the Melvin Jones Fellow award at the August Dinner meeting. Lion Neil also presented Terry with the Life of the Year award.
Lion Kenny Bevere is working on a Cuyahoga Falls Lions Club Golf Outing. This fund raiser will be at the Brookledge Golf Club September 25, 2021 at 1:30. The event will raise money to assist with special adaptive playground equipment for Lions Park. Stay tuned for job assignments to help make this event a big success. We will need to being lining up hole sponsors as well as donations from local vendors and businesses.
Lion Jim Hamill has received word for Bill Hickson that the schools are unable to have volunteers in the buildings this year so vision screenings are on hold at this point. When the program resumes, screeners will need to be recertified on new equipment.
Lion Sue reported that collections have resumed. At the end of August 250 pairs of glasses and sunglasses were collected. Several of our donation sites are currently not collecting for us but hope to resume in the future. G.A.L.E.P. will be meeting by Zoom sometime in October.

The district is working on a project for homeless veterans. Gary Alexander is being endorsed for International Vice President. Lakemore Lions will be sponsoring a Poker Run fund raiser and a dedication at their Lions Park of playground equipment for kids with special needs.

This event will take place in Wooster. If you wish to participate virtually, please send a check to Lion Lee Hamill. She has sent a copy of the flier to the club members. The club will donate up to $100 if she does not receive that amount in checks from members.

Lion Lee has completed the paperwork for our club to receive and Excellence Award based on membership, service activities, club organization and marketing and community outreach. We are waiting for news of a decision.
LCIF is sponsoring a calendar raffle in March of 2021. Lion Lori will handle sales for tickets for this raffle. Tickets are $5.00.
