HAPPY HAPPIES:
Happy Birthday to Lions Dave Pelligra,  Bob Weinhardt, Eric King,  SteveN Subichin and Kathy Skinner!

SPEAKER FOR DINNER MEETING:
Our newest Lion, Wes Johnston, will be full of information about our Couples Night Out at EJ Thomas, for the Carole King Story 11/19. We will meet at 5:30 PM at Bricco, 1 W Exchange, for dinner, then go to EJ Thomas for the show at 7:30 PM.  Tickets are $20 each, and Wes will need the checks at our Dinner Meeting October 17th.  He has purchased 20 tickets, and can get more if we need.  Please make out the checks to Wes!  If you are planning to attend, PLEASE CONTACT WES  with your reservation so he can track the # of tickets.

DICTIONARIES FOR 3RD GRADERS:
Lion Bill Skinner is contacting all Cuyahoga Falls, Woodridge, and the 6 private schools for the count of 3rd graders this year.  He will be ordering the dictionaries soon, and he and Lion Kathy will begin delivering.  Want to come along? Let us know and we’ll give you dates and times you can join us!

SALVATION ARMY BELL RINGERS:
Red Kettle Bell Ringing will be 12/7/19, Acme #10, State Road, 10:00 AM to 5 PM. Lion Nancy Bevere is scheduling times for volunteers, so please give her a call.

2020 REVERSE RAFFLE:
King Neil announced the Reverse Raffle will be held at Todaro’s on APRIL 4th, so please MARK YOUR CALENDARS! And you can RESERVE your NUMBER now, and pay later!! Let Rick Sabo know if you have a special number. EMAIL RAFFLE@CUYAHOGAFALLSLIONSCLUB.ORG.

MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS:
Secretary Lee Hamill reported that two of the last 3 members have renewed.

EYEGLASSES COLLECTIONS:
SECRETARY LEE HAMILL also reported that this month’s collections were 220 glasses, 52 sunglasses, 4 cases, 3 hearing aids, and 6 cell phones.

VISION SCREENINGS:
Lion Jim Hamill reported that so far this year over 2000 visual screenings have been completed. This coming week two large schools are scheduled: Oct 8th – Spring Hill, 660 Lessig Av, in Ellet – 109 children 9-11:30 AM & 65 more 1-2 PM; Oct 10th – David Bacon School, 181 Strecker Dr, Tallmadge (off Rt 91) 103 Children 9:30-11:30 AM and 45 more at 12:45 PM.  WHEW! The group of screeners definitely could use more people to help during these sessions, and Training will be starting for those who wish to do the actual screening. But, folks are still needed to guide the children and also handle some paperwork. Interested? Contact Lion Jim Hamill. 

GALEP:
The next GALEP Meeting will be October 7th at the Tallmadge Lions Hall at 7:00 PM. Two School Nurses will be there to speak about their experiences with the Visual Screening.

COMMUNITY THANK YOU DAY:
Our THANK YOU TO THE COMMUNITY DAY at the Acme #10 on State Road on September 21 was a fun time Thanks to those who worked the table that day. The mints were a big hit!

MEMBERSHIP LETTERS:
Lion Terry Harden, Membership Chairman, has received several names as proposed new members, and the gathering will be set up shortly.  More later!
